The Mystery:
For the last 8 years, Republicans and conservatives have been utterly baffled and constantly outwitted by the remarkable rope-a-dope political tactics of the Clintons and their ubiquitous Democratic cronies. Stymied and bewildered at every turn, Republicans have stood by, stunned and mute, while S.W. Clinton has wriggled out of every consequence of his own actions, no matter how illegal, unethical, immoral, or just plain foul (remember the "cigar?"), with no apparent loss of popularity in the public eye. In fact, among Democrats, the Clintons are more popular than ever!
To
the average Conservative, it's all perfectly obvious: Bill Clinton belongs in
jail. He's been coercing sexual favors out of subordinate female employees
(in the workplace!) for decades; He's lied about his
drug use, his years-long de-facto polygamy, he's even lied in open court;
He's exposed himself to women, actually attacked women, he's been accused
of unwanted physical advances and genuine rape; He sold-out the
White House for political money, posing for photos with drug dealers and Chinese
Communist Military Spies, then rented the Lincoln Bedroom to Hanoi Jane Fonda. He
sold scientific and military rocketry secrets through the Dept. of Commerce;
then
he "lost" all our state-of-the-art nuclear secrets to the very Chinese Communists who
contributed to his political campaigns.
Crime upon crime upon crime. Yet.........
The United Nations gave him a thunderous 5 minute standing ovation!
How can this possibly be? And how can the Democratic Party constantly look the other way, bury it's head in the sand, deny obvious reality, disseminate his absurd lies, then bow, scrape, and publicly grovel and worship at his feet?
The Republicans' inability to solve this riddle has cost them dearly time and again: They were blamed for Clinton's shutdown of the federal government; they were blamed for the length and cost of Clinton's own foot-dragging and obstruction of justice in the "WhiteWater Jones Lewinsky Impeachment" fiasco; they were called "a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" by Clinton's very own Vast Left Wing Conspirators. It's been like watching a cartoon where a silly man gets hit in the face with a pie and then a big question mark (?) appears over his head. It's funny because it's so humiliating.
Well, there is an answer. And we'll need it for years to come. Since the Clintons will never go away, and the Democrats will never stop adoring them, the Republicans will always need the key to unlock the future traps laid for them before those traps are sprung.
The Explanation:
The Clintons (Bill + Hillary) are the single dual-natured Messiah that unites the essentially conflicted halves of the Liberal Heart.
The Liberals have always been "of two different minds" when it comes to political power: On one hand they want to punish the country and push the country around with millions of laws designed to regulate and restrict (into oblivion) every constitutionally guaranteed freedom they don't like; And on the other hand, they want to break every law they can, run wild in the streets and "Stick It To The Man!" Up until now these two elements have battled for supremacy, one victor producing humorless Fascists and the other victor producing lawless Leftist dissipates. Thus the Liberal heart simultaneously demands more law and rejects more law.
"The Clintons" resolve this traditional conflict. Slick Willie and his cottage-cheese-butted wife together comprise a complex, dual-natured, Liberal Messianic team that incorporates and combines every possible Liberal virtue/fault.
Male and Female, Apollonian and Dionysian, each of them is one half of the self-contradictory, counter-intuitive Liberal heart. Hillary is the stern, angry Fascist who will not rest until her brand of heavy-handed Liberalism rules the world and everyone who ever opposed her is dead. Bill is the ever lusty, uncontrollable wild stallion, the free spirited Libertine who will not be constrained by any morality or law. These paired sets of opposites are almost endless:
The
Soldier
and the Peace-Nic. Shame-monger and the Shameless. The Victim and the
Victimizer. The Fighter and the Lover. Guilt-monger and the
Guiltless. Lawyer and Lawless. Frigid and torrid. The Moon and
the Sun. The Centaur*and the Minotaur.* The
warrior and the lover. The Prey and the Predator.
The
alchemical marriage of Bill and Hillary brings these many abstract halves into
one physical unit for all to see, a single Liberal entity which dispenses both
accusation and defense, praise and rebuke, condemnation and forgiveness, with no
fear of contradiction, no loss of credibility. There will always be
Democrats who are like Hillary, there will always be Democrats like Bill.
Counter-intuition,
creative vanity, and semantic veneer are the three hallmarks of this nature.
Self-forgiveness is their common trait. It's perfectly okay to be a Nazi
for a good cause, so Bill will forgive Hillary's Stalinist Fascism. Since it's
perfectly okay to disregard traditional evil Christian morality, then lie to
protect one's private perversions, Hillary will always forgive Bill's sex
crimes. The liberal soul is both a Nazi and a rebel. Hate and Love.
Order and Chaos. Hillary and Bill. The Destroyer and the Procreator,
all rolled into one public unit: the most amazing marriage of political
convenience in history. Without this union of opposites, Liberals
of either inclination are stuck competing with each other. With
this unholy matrimony, they can forgive and embrace each other, their common
cause of World Domination and World Libertinism can go forward. How easy
the Clintons have made it. Forgive your allies, destroy your enemies, no
guilt anywhere. It's a dream come true. No surprise that the
Democrats love them so much. Together, they're the single, most perfect Liberal
for the 21st Century: Angry, Lusty, Manipulative, Self-Forgiving, capable
of ignoring and thereby overcoming any moral humiliation, utterly devoted to the
future Utopian goal, and to the ruin of the
enemy.
In
this new framework, any big Liberal government can enforce its own weird lusts in place
of traditional values by simply re-labeling the truth. Taxes become
contributions, the word is can be subjected to several
re-definitions,
perjury becomes "defending the Constitution." The semantic
veneer is the whitewash which covers-up the truth. It's wonderful, the
perfect
solution.
The Strategy:
In fact, it's an absolute waste of time to attack the Clintons any more. The Democrats have circled their wagons so tightly around these two monsters that it's like an iron curtain of cult members keeping all the vile, unclean infidels out of their Holy of Holies. Inside the wall there is the golden light of the Messiah, magic, salvation. Outside there is only hatred, evil, a dark wasteland of antique morality populated by millions of malignant devils who refuse to support the sins of the Messiah. And so it will ever be. Amen.
It's
the Democratic politicians and activists themselves who are most vulnerable. They
happily carried and spread Clinton's perjury and hundreds of other lies,
character assassination, sexual victimization and blackmail of subordinate women
and the demonization of those women who wouldn't be intimidated, all the way to
the bitter end, then they voted to help him evade the justice he was so plainly
due. They sold out every ethic in the book. And yet,
to this day, they still pretend to be advocates of "Women's Rights,"
"Political Ethics," and "Honesty," accusing their enemies of
lying and treating Women like trash, and a general lack of morals. This is
Olympian Hypocrisy.
Every single day, not just around election time but constantly, every day, at every opportunity, on every call-in TV and radio show, there is some Democratic office holder or "spin operative" accusing Conservatives of things for which he's already given Slick Willie a wide open pass. Each of these appearances is an opportunity to accuse the Democrat of having "Clintonian Ethics," and "Clintonian Morals." Or of being a "Clintonite" who has no credibility because he's forgiven his hero for even worse behavior (rape, sexual harassment, perjury, abuse of presidential power) than his enemy's.
When he says "This isn't about Clinton," the answer is, "That's right, it's about how you supported him, defended him, carried his water and lied to America for him, and then let him off the hook for his actual crimes! It's about how we can't trust you, or anything you say ever again; it's about your hypocrisy, and your double standards, your total lack of credibility."
When he says "No it's not," the answer should be, "Of course it is. You might be able to fool yourself with your slick Clintonian hypocrisy, but you can't fool the rest of us. You have no place in public service, you've betrayed every decent person in this country, just to keep your hero in office!"
One or two of these charges might be sluffed off, but not by the thousands, day in and day out, year after year. By election time, the Democrat's integrity itself will be the issue.
The
most important thing any everyday Conservative can do is: expose the link that
every single Democrat has to those repugnant elements of the Clinton Scandals of
which we all disapprove. Every Democrat has forgiven The Clintons for the
very atrocious things that they currently accuse Conservatives of doing. This is
their major weakness: Democrats will never accuse or condemn another
Democrat for any wrongdoing under the Sun. In exchange for this loyalty, this forgiving "wink and nod," they each forsake the right to accuse their
enemies of the same thing. But that's exactly what they keep doing. On every
issue, from the Super Left, Marxist, Stalinist, Fascist, Hillary Hippy Agenda to
Slick Willie's years
of abusing both women and executive power, each Democrat will always be vulnerable for his or her shifting,
selective outrage.
*In Greek mythology, the Centaur (a person's head and torso on a horse's body) represents the triumph of the Intellect over the Passions. The Minotaur (a bull's head on a person's body) represents the opposite: the triumph of Passion over Intellect.
